What people bill for

An invoice is a request for money, written down

Who it is from, who it is to, what was supplied, what it costs and when payment is due. A template gives you that layout already built, so the only thing left is your own wording.

Freelance work

Bill a client for a project or a block of hours. Line items, a rate, a total, and the payment terms you agreed.

Trades and callouts

Parts and labour on separate lines, so a customer can see what the materials cost and what the work cost.

Small business billing

Your logo, your company details and a consistent invoice number on every bill you send out.

A receipt after payment

Mark it paid, keep the same layout, and send it back as the record of what was bought and when.

Overseas clients

Set any currency and tax rate. Nothing assumes a country, so an invoice in one currency is no harder than another.

Totals that add themselves

Quantity times rate, then subtotal, tax and the amount due. Change a figure and everything below it follows.

How it works

Three steps, and nothing to install

  1. 01

    Pick a template

It opens in the invoice maker with the layout, colours and line items already set. Everything on the page can be moved, restyled or deleted.

  2. 02

    Put your details in

Your company, your client, your line items. The subtotal, tax and total are worked out as you type, so the arithmetic is never yours to check.

  3. 03

    Download the PDF

A print-ready A4 page with no watermark, ready to email or file. The draft stays in your browser if you want to come back to it.

Prefer to start from nothing?

Open a blank document

Every template here opens straight into the invoice maker with the table already built — description, quantity, rate, tax and the totals underneath. You change the wording to yours, add your own logo, and download. There is nothing to install and no account to create.

Start from a template when you want a layout that already works. Start from a blank invoice when you have a specific design in mind.

The table does the arithmetic

The line items are not a picture of a table. Type a quantity and a rate and the amount fills itself in; the subtotal, the tax line and the total all follow. Change a figure later and everything below it updates. Nothing is rounded behind your back — what the page shows is what the PDF prints.

Tax is a per-line percentage, so a job that mixes a taxable service with an exempt one adds up correctly rather than forcing you to split it across two invoices. A per-line discount column is there when you need it and hidden when you do not.

What to put on an invoice

An invoice needs enough for the person paying it to pay it without asking you anything. In practice that is: who you are and how to reach you, who it is for, a number that identifies it, the date it was issued, the date it is due, what the work was, what it costs, and how to pay.

The invoice number matters more than it looks. It is how you and your client both refer to the same document three months later, and how your accounts stay in order. Sequential is enough — INV-0001, INV-0002. What you must not do is reuse one.

Payment terms belong on the page, not in the covering email. "Payment due within 14 days" printed under the total is a term of the invoice; the same sentence in an email is a thing someone may not have read.

Add your logo and your colours

Upload a logo and place it where you want it — most templates leave a space in the header for one. The colour of a header band or a table heading is yours to change, so an invoice can carry your brand without being redesigned from nothing.

Downloading and sending

The download is a print-ready A4 PDF with no watermark and nothing added to it. It opens the same way on every machine, which a screenshot or a word-processor file does not.

If you need a signature or a company stamp on it, the signature maker and the stamp maker both produce transparent PNGs you can place straight onto the invoice before you download it.
